Eugene Delacroix
Jewish Bride of Tangier, 1832
Using Feminist methodology, I wish to research Eugene Delacroix's painting, "Jewish Bride of Tangier" (1832). Exploring Delacroix's perspective of Jewish female identity by examining his paintings, sketches and journal writings, salon reviews and works of his contemporaries, I hope to offer a more broad understanding of one perspective of female Jewish identity in 19th C. French art-history and culture.
